Whilst we endeavour to accommodate any person with a disability or special needs, we are unfortunately not very suitable for wheelchairs due to the structure and design of the building. We do have a ground floor dormitory and bathroom but two steps must be negotiated to get to the front gate and then two more separate steps to the front porch and door.

Please do not hesitate to ring us if you would like to discuss whether we would be able to accommodate your needs.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

The hostel is located on a quiet residential street where parking is free and safe. It is normally pretty easy to find space to park.

Main Entrance, Reception Public Areas – Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc.

Falmouth Lodge is an old Victorian House arranged on three floors, very simply adapted into a Hostel with 6 rooms – three twin/double/triple rooms (one spacious attic en-suite) and three dorm or family rooms of four – five or six/seven beds.

Only one dorm room of six/seven beds is on the ground floor along with one bathroom and the kitchen and lounge.

Public Areas

Lounge and kitchen are comfortable and fully equipped.

Guests have full access to both areas at any time, apart from 11pm-7am when the kitchen is closed.

Strictly No Smoking in the house policy.

Smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and fire blanket provided.

In the event of an emergency, guests are to leave by the main door and assemble in the street.

All rooms except one dorm have their own washbasin.

Besides the en-suite room there are three bathrooms available on two floors which are available to all guests.

Cooking and Eating

There is a fully equipped self-catering, communal kitchen with a fridge and boxes for personal food storage, as well as seating areas. Cooking facilities either on an Aga or in a microwave.

Free tea and coffee is available any time and a simple complimentary breakfast is provided in the kitchen between 7.30 and 10am.

Laundry facilities are only for use by the management, but we can wash and dry laundry by special request, for a small fee.

The nearest food shop is about a 10 minute walk away – a Tesco’s Express which is open from 7am until 11pm.

Lounge and Dining

There is a cosy lounge/dining room available to guests at all times.

This communal space offers free access to a PC, TV, and DVD player. There is also a log burner for chilly winter evenings.

Outdoor Facilities

A paved garden at the front of the house is surrounded by plants and has table and seating, as well as barbeque facilities in the summer.

Additional Information

Reception Opens at 5pm but please notify us if your arrival is after 8pm.

It is sometimes possible to leave your bags earlier in the day, but as we are a small operation there cannot be someone ‘at home’ at all times.

We are a 2 minute walk from the beach where there is a restaurant/cafe, and a disabled access ramp is available.

We are less than a 10 minute walk into the town with all its shops, restaurants and attractions.

We welcome your feedback to help us continually improve if you have any comments please phone 01326 319996 or email

Falmouth Lodge Backpackers has been thinking long and hard about re-opening after the Covid19 lockdown.  It certainly saddens us, but we really feel, “hand-on-heart” that we will not be able to keep you as Covid-Safe as we would be comfortable with, at this point in time, and in the current environment.

We are therefore, not going to open this year, but will be re-opening in the Spring of 2021 with newly organised rooms, giving everyone more space, plus extra bathroom procedures installed, for everyone’s health protection.  We will also be promoting the exciting option of renting the whole hostel for your large family, or group, holiday by the sea, in Cornwall!!

The essence of hostelling is on the enjoyment of shared accommodation and socialising spaces, so we really hope that we’ll be able to return to this again next year when we will know even more about this virus, and may have developed better ways of living with it.

Wishing you all a great summer; STAY WELL, and see you next year!!
